The Heximus product is in genesis. The goal is utilize older cell phones and tap into there potential to provide useful tools for the masses. Heximus goal is not to replace live video feeds or custom data acquisition hardware. Its goal is to give meaningful results which might just be good enough, thus avoiding an extra unnecessary expense. Heximus is currently only monitoring video and audio but there is no reason it cannot track other sensors as well such as GPS location, light measurements ("lux values") and barometric pressure. Even though a lot of cell phones contain a low cost chip similar to a BMP180, the temperature sensor is kind of useless since it is inside the phone subject to heat from the cell phone itself. This is where an Audrino board would come to the rescue. If you accidentally drop your Audrino board down your well, it is not a big loss since they are so inexpensive. The Audrino board in a hostile environment can communicate with old cell phone via WIFI or Bluetooth. This opens up a whole slew of possibilities, web cameras and sensors all over your house, talking to your old cell phone.
